December Daily

Ok – I know I haven’t really been keeping this blog up.  New year… new plans…. hoping to have time to keep it up.

I have been following a few new-to-me blogs in the last year.  I started reading Ali Edwards blog about a year ago.  At the time she was creating a December Daily album.  LOVED the idea but at the time with a 2 year old who didn’t really “get” Christmas yet it just didn’t feel like the right time.  Now Andy is 3 and it felt like a great time to document our holiday.

My friend Monika & I brought the idea up to a MOMS group we belong to…. a lot of non-scrappers.  We thought it would be fun to try with a Smash Book product.  Easy for a non-scrapper to use & understand right?  I chose to use the Fancy Pants Brag Book in black.  I also picked up the Bo Bunny Blitzen (kit + extras) plus some other accessories.

For the cover I used Tim Holtz Crackle Paint (Picket Fence) and cut the title in my own handwriting using my Silhouette Cameo.

I also tore apart my Brag Book!

WHAT?  NO!  YES!  The way the book is arranged most of the photo sleeves & pockets are all bunched together… I wanted them with the pages.  I spent a lot of time figuring out how many of each & how to share them equally amongst the days and reassembled the book.

December started, I took pictures, I jotted down notes on post-its & I printed my first batch of pictures.  And then I stared at the book.  I just didn’t like the feel.  I love what other crafters do with Kraft paper but it just is not my thing.  Coincidentally I also put in an order to Stampin’Up! for some new Whisper White paper but I ordered Naturals White.  Turns out I love this paper!  It’s white, but has a very natural paper feel & a few “pulpie” flecks in it.  So I took my book apart again & cut new pages with the Naturals White paper.  Using my Cinch from We R Memory Keepers I cut holes that were perfectly spaced.  This time I didn’t reassemble it.  My initial thought was the rings had been through enough & I only wanted to rearrange it one more time.  Best decision ever!  I ended up putting the photo sleeves & pockets where I needed them – and I didn’t need them all. I also used more sheets of paper for some days than others.

That’s all for today – I have the book complete in layout through the 22nd & journaled for a week or so.
